We all have heard of this 'me' time. But, what is 'me' time? Why do certain people act like that is a big stuff? And a lot more questions. For answers, continue reading.
Certain people, to be precise, introverts love solitude and enjoy their own company. Whenever they interact with a lot of people, their battery drains out, just like your phone's. When they socialize with strangers or people they are not comfortable with, their battery drops to zero even faster, like how your phone dies quickly when you play PUBG. Why do their battery dries out when yours don't? Because, that's their nature. They don't like socializing much. Even if they do, they have certain restraints. Sometimes even a meet with their best friends could drain their social battery.
When our phone's battery gets low, we charge it back by connecting to a power supply. How do introverts get charged back? They definitely don't feed on electricity. How they get their energy back is, by staying alone, spending some time personally with their favos. The time they spend for themselves is called ' me ' time.
Why do they need ' me ' time? The reason is, they are silent listeners who observe each and everything little that happens around them. It may look like they don't participate much in conversations and activities. But, they would know more than what others know. It takes time for them to process all those information within a short time which stresses them a lot. They need to relieve these stresses and refresh themselves.
So, what do they do in their ' me ' time? What do they do, is totally their choice. Some love sleeping, some write, while few others binge watch their favorite series, some even hit the gym. You can't really guess what they do in their 'me' time unless you know them personally. Sometimes they really do nothing. Yeah, nothing.
How long is their ' me ' time? It varies from person to person. Some need only few hours while some take even days. It also varies from time to time depending on the cause. After a lot of interaction with strangers, not really strangers, they are the people with who I work, it took me a week to get back to normal. They go through heavy mood swings during this period. Not only introverts who need ' me ' time, many new moms long for ' me ' time.
How to find if they need ' me ' time? They suddenly find everyone to be annoying and feel frustrated at once. Their anxiety may seem worse. They hate anyone's company but also hate loneliness at the same time. They feel exhausted even after a good sleep. They would have heavy mood swings. These are signs to find whether one needs a 'me' time or not.
It's extremely necessary for everyone to have ' me ' time not just introverts and new moms. It increases your productivity significantly and also enhance your mood so you can concentrate on things better. You can do whatever you want even going to the spa counts. But make a wrong move, it hits you hard, real hard. You could go for a walk, or watch a movie, pen your thoughts or indulge in a hobby. Do whatever you want to. This most essential ' me ' time is not validated by many and is still treated as a hoax. This should change and people should take it easy. People should really consider spending their time alone at least once a while.
